Summary: This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.
This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.
Ship: Kady x Ezra
Fave Cinnamon Rolls: Kady, Ezra’s friend who’s name escapes me.
Needed BROTP: Ezra and that guy (again cant’ remember his name)
Actual Review: Okay, let’s see how to describe this book. There really is no words for the sheer amazingness that is this book. IT is witty and funny and sad and plot twisty and adventury and just practically everything you want in a YA sci-fi book.
Kady is literally my spirit animal, I am her and she is me. Like serously, minus the whole computer hacking thing (can’t do it). But her sense of humor is mine aka Sarcastic.
While it is censored in the way the curse words are blocked out but you can totally figure out wht they are saying and i personally would love to read an uncensored version. Release a college student uncensored version please.
Okay, lets see if i can make this seem a bit neater.
Illuminae is a space sci-fi book that takes that genre to new limits. Written by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman, Illuminae explores two characters on two shuttles that picked up surviving refugees of this outpost illegal mining plant in the middle of space after a big corporation bombed the shit out of it. Kady Grant & Ezra mason actually have history and must work together to figure outwhat is going on in this group of spaceships and why it seems the technology people rely on is going haywire.
The book is formatted in a bizzare and fun way that it makes this book a quick read despite is 600pg size. I would highly suggest clearing out a afternoon/day to read it and not starting it late at night bc you will want to read it in one sitting.
I can’t wait to start Gemina & any other sequels that may come out.
Highly recommend to fans of Enders Game & maybe even TOG fans.
