Waiting on Wednesday

I’ve thought long and hard about what to put as my first Waiting on Wednesday. Especially because there are SOO many good books coming out in the next couple months and as i’m not a big blog, I’ve read NONE of them.

But I’ve decided that for the First Waiting on Wednesday of BooksofKings will be Jay Asher’s What Light, releasing October 11th, 2016.

Summary:  Sierra’s family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon—it’s a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.

Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.

By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb’s past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.

What Light is a love story that’s moving and life-affirming and completely unforgettable.

Why I’m Desperately Waiting:

Story Time kitkats, I first discovered Jay Asher when his first book came out, Thirteen Reasons WHy, and my Freshman Year English Teacher had it on her desk.  Somehow I asked her about it and found out what the book was about. I immediately when out and bought it and practically inhaled it and I”ve been hooked on Jay Asher’s stories ever since. The way these stories always seem to make you question life and really open your minds is breathtaking.

When The Future of Us was released, I latched on to that and inhaled it too. I think my copy is so original/old that it’s the old cover without the twisted heart pencil.

I have waited years, YEARS I TELL YOU, for another Jay Asher book and when I suddenly discover that in this October I will get my wish granted, I had to hold back my screams of enjoyment as I was at work. And the only reason I haven’t preordered that sucker is because my butt is not waiting the extra time for shipping. I am driving to Barnes & noble that morning and buying that book on release day. And then i’m going to ignore my teachers and read it in class.
